Question about Puerto Morelos

Sure it has been covered here some where but tried looking and could not find specifics. We are headed to Pearl in mid December. This will be our 4th Desire trip but first to Pearl. On the other three to DRM we never left the resort other than a few walks on the beach to see what the area was like. From what we have read, Puerto Morelos is not far and thought it might be fun to spend a few hours checking out the area.

First, how long of a walk is it from Pearl to Puerto Morelos?

Second, is there much to see or do?

Understand it is a smaller town but we live in a small town in the States and there are some great places to hang out at.

It is really quite an easy walk to the town. You can see it from Pearl and there really isn't anything much in between. My guess is that it is no more than 20 minutes away to the town's pier. There are a couple of places to get a massage in an open tent on the beach and a few outdoor patio restaurants where you might get something to eat and drink. We went to a small store to buy some more toothpaste and noticed a row of small stores selling the kind of touristy things that beach vendors like to offer. A small town but a nice walk.
