A bit about us first. We were at RM from 10/1 - 10/5. For those, who were there with us, we are Lola and Squeak. We are not in the lifestyle, but we were intrigued by the exhibitionist/voyeuristic and clothing optional aspects of Desire. Of course, it turned out to be too short of a trip, but it was a good amount for our first time for us to soak up the atmosphere and the vibe and become comfortable with the resort and what it has to offer.
As we did our research, we had several items that we wanted to check off the list. Since this was our first time at Desire, we didn't know if we would be back, and we wanted to maximize our time there. These are the things we felt we needed to try so that we could leave there with no regrets.
* Erotic massage - we were nervous about this one, but it sounded like it could be an amazing experience, and it was! We decided to go into it with an open mind and speak up during the massage if we felt uncomfortable. We never felt the need to speak up. We REALLY enjoyed it and going in with an open mind was the right decision for us. But it is an intense experience. There is a milder Sensual massage version if you are uncomfortable with the erotic nature of this experience.
* Sex in the sin room - a no-brainer for us as a couple with an interest in exhibitionism. We like that it is off the disco, so you can party for a while, use the sin room, and then re-join the party. The sin room wasn't very busy when we were there, but having other sexy couples around us satisfied our exhibitionist side.
* Sex by the Jacuzzi - we had a great time in and around the Jacuzzi. The conversations were great, and the swim-up bar is perfect. We used the beds around the Jacuzzi twice and enjoyed the freedom of having sex in the open. We kept eyeing the shower, but we didn't use it. Maybe next time we will bring some soap and enjoy an erotic shower.
* Dressing up for the theme nights - this was one of Squeak's favorite parts of the trip. He loves to dress Lola up, and it was another opportunity to step out of reality. It was fun mingling with other couples around the lobby bar before the disco opened and participating in the entertainment beforehand. Our only disappointment was that on one night, they changed it up and had the party at the Jacuzzi, so not much time in the theme outfit and no time in the outfit for dancing.
* Getting up the guts to be nude in front of strangers - it sounds so simple, and so many people have discussed this on the forums, but at that moment of truth, your heart races. It's weird because you instantly transition from that moment of angst to a calmness as if it's just normal to be completely naked. Lola decided to stay in her swimsuit bottoms for most of the time, and she was at ease. At no point did she feel out of place because of her personal decision. On our last afternoon, she decided to take off the bottoms because she didn't want a wet swimsuit in her luggage ("Makes total sense, honey. Lose the bottoms!") She too made that instant transition. Just another reason to return!
* Photo shoot - we did this on a whim although we talked about it beforehand. It was amazing! At first, Lola was nervous, and the photographer put her in poses. By the time we moved to the next location, the beds by the lobby bar, she was a super model. We opted for lingerie, as well as sexy nude poses, but they will take it as far as you want to go. The photographs themselves are so beautifully done. They are a lasting memory of an incredible trip.
As stated many times, you don't have to be in the lifestyle to have a great time at Desire. We weren't tempted to join the lifestyle or be with other people while we were there. But we still can't wait to go back, and one of the main reasons is because of how friendly and accepting everyone is regardless of where you are in the lifestyle. The key, though, is that we were willing to put yourself out there and strike up conversations. You could sit on the lounge chair and read a book the entire time or find a quiet spot for just the two of you, and that's okay, and you will have fun, but we knew we wanted to meet other people and make new friends in order to maximize our adventure, and we are so grateful to the couples we have met, especially our friends from Jersey.
We had such a great time that when we left, we wanted to tell everyone about our experience at Desire. We, of course, thought we could not do that. We do have one couple, who we trust and told, and it has been a lot of fun to relive the trip with friends, who didn't know this side of us and are also intrigued enough that maybe they will take a trip to Desire. We are creating converts one couple at a time!
Finally, on a different note, we wanted to mention how great the service is at the resort, and especially Chef Raul. Lola has a seafood allergy. (We know. Mexico is not the best place to go for a seafood allergy, but it's Desire!) They took extra special care of her, and she didn't have a single issue with seafood or cross contamination the entire time we were there. As long as you are clear and discuss your allergy with them at every meal as a reminder, they will bend over backwards to accommodate you.
Thanks to everyone on the forums, who have provided excellent advice over the years. You prepared us newbies well for our unforgettable trip. Needless to say, we are already planning our return trip. The only decision now is return to RM or try Pearl
