We were there about 6 weeks ago and the beach was fine if that helps.

We were there from 3/17-22. There was quite of bit of seaweed one morning, but the staff worked hard and did a good job of clean-up. Other mornings saw very little seaweed and clean-up comparatively took only a short time. In the past, we have tried to tip the two or three workers that work so hard to keep the shoreline presentable.

We just returned on March 22. The southern half of the beach, extending from the watersports shack /volleyball court and extending northward past the passion suites is in good shape. Starting from CC's beach bar (which had to be placed on a platform due to the erosion) the level of the beach sand is lower and the beach gradually narrows towards the northern end of the resort. There are some rocks exposed that we haven't seen before. Absent storm events, it should continue to build up. The amount of seagrass varied from day to day. Certainly not as bad as two years ago. Our last few days it was minimal.

All of the older palapa beds have been replaced. The swinging beds were not replaced, nor is there room for two rows of palapa beds in that area. However, they have added palapa beds along the beach in front of the pool so I believe the total number of palapa beds is about the same.

The new resort next door, Breathless, has sustained very serious erosion starting with the boundary with Desire. That resort has generated some increased foot traffic (it does require some effort to traverse from one property to the other) but overall it has minimal impact on Desire.

Agreed! We just returned on the 31st, and we have not seen the beach look and feel this good and wide for many years. The newly exposed rocks do present a stumbling issue if you're preoccupied with the view and not looking down (which, hey....who isn't?) The new beds are sturdy and have adjustable inclines, so you don't have to keep fighting with that wedge pillow to stay propped up anymore! The passion suite white beds are the same as they were, though. And Cici's new bar is bigger and offers more shady areas to hang out in.

Just got back on the 18th of April. Beach is about the same as it was a couple of years ago with the exception of the last couple of beach beds that are a lot closer to the water. Maybe about 10 feet of beach between the bed and the water. Not really a problem since there is very little passer byes as compared to years past.

For the fist couple of days the seaweed was manageable and they got most of it up but the last couple of days they couldn't even make a dent in it. The water was still nice, you just have to walk over it which for some is too much.
