GMandGW wrote:Holy ego Batman, it’s crazy to hear how many people are thinking someone’s going to take their photo. Here are a few reasons to rest easy:
1) The internet is massive. Let’s just say that someone takes a pic of your nakedness and posts it. Do you really think that some facial recognition software is going to pinpoint you from Joe Scmo’s random vacation blog? You’re concerned about that, however, you’re in the jacuzzi giving anyone who will talk to you your name, occupation, and where you live. All with your tits out.
2) Desire is expensive. Really expensive. Some happily married couple, who’s saved and saved, and planned and planned, and is so excited about their Desire vacation, secretly did all this just to take photos of you. Check your ego and think about it. Desire is a way bigger and exciting experience than a stupid photo of your old ass will ever be.
3) Porn. Back to point #1 about the internet. There are a bazillion beautiful cocks and racks that anyone can look at for free, anytime. Yet, what is probably really happening is that person who has access to look at anything they desire instantly online, paid huge bucks to come to Desire just to take a photo of your button dick.
So, the next time you think someone’s sneaking a pic of your vast volume of skin, my suggestion is this... smile and pose. You’ll look a lot less silly doing that, than getting yourself all worked up worrying that someone actually cares what you’re doing. I don’t mean for this post to sound harsh, but everyone truly is there for the same reason you are - and I promise it’s not to take you home as a digital souvenir.

You may not presume to know how others feel and your choice of adjectives in describing fellow guests is offensive. While I have no issue with photos taken I respect the right of others to have a different POV. Respect for all.
GMandGW wrote:The fact that the overly-sensitive got catered too certainly took a lot of fun out of Desire. It's a shame that the resort is letting people's egos get in the way of other's vacations.
If you go, you will see my old ass. That's just how it is. There are all kinds of body types there. There are fat people, skinny people, old people, big dicks, small dicks, and people of every color. That's not judgement - it's just a flat-out fact. If knowing that offends you, then please don't go to Desire. You will see all of that there.
I think you are being a little short sighted here. I'm sure for some it is ego related but for others it is a little more serious than that and it has nothing to do with ego. We've met a few couples who don't want their pictures to turn up elsewhere because of their careers. Their field is such that if 'found out' it would potentially destroy their careers. So, no matter the size of the internet and no matter how remote the chance of that happening that is a huge risk that you can't reasonable ask anyone to take.
Maybe they shouldn't go to Desire then you say? Problem is that the rules in place are supposed to help protect against that. One couple told us in a matter of fact non upset kind of way that if the rule didn't exist they simply wouldn't come, it would no longer be worth the risk as much as they would hate to give up the fun.
You can argue that it's a stupid rule and should be abandoned, fair enough, but that is a separate topic and beside the point here. While it is a rule, people should follow it just like no smoking, just like no means no or any other rule put in place.
People are clearly told about the no camera rule when checking in. They are deciding to not follow the rule here. They are NOT the victims, they are the ones putting others at risk (albeit remote). Do you really want to leave it up to the individuals what rules they should and should not follow, can you not see where that kind of mindset might lead (besides the obvious loss of business for Desire)? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take too many Trip Advisor reviews stating that people are running around with cameras to put a noticeable dent in Desire's $$$, and don't think for a minute that's not the driving force in every decision they make.
You left out a huge distinction here and that is that it is a completely different thing for people at Desire to see you naked vs. people anywhere else in their lives to see them naked. Pictures aren't at all about who at Desire might see you naked. Desire life and vanilla life are two totally separate things.

Why would anyone vacation somewhere that would destroy their career? That’s my whole point. Just because someone has sensitivity issues, doesn’t mean they have the right to affect how those around them vacation. You shouldn’t be told not to read your kindle because the guy next to you has his own career issues. Thank you for backing up my point exactly.Maybe they shouldn't go to Desire then you say? Please go back and read the original post and everything following. No one is arguing about cameras. Makes sense and we all get that. You’re totally right.
The issue is phones. There are no rules about using a device for reading, surfing the internet, and for other purposes. It’s the egotistical paranoid people, who accuse anyone around them with a phone of taking their picture, who should not be catered to. It’s a shame that the Desire staff is doing that. You left out a huge distinction here and that is that it is a completely different thing for people at Desire to see you naked vs. people anywhere else in their lives to see them naked. Agreed. My point is, that if you’re that scared, why go and ruin everyone else’s good time? Go where you’re comfortable and don’t kill everyone else’s buzz with your paranoia. Until there’s a hard rule that says no electronic devices whatsoever on Desire property, asking the staff to search other people’s phones is way, way out of line. I’m still floored that the majority here think that’s not only ok, but respectable when someone asks to do that.

Are you really this clueless, or did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?!?
The camera/phone/kindle distinction is moot. They're all cameras. It's all common sense, if you're reading on a tablet, just hold the damn thing in a way where the camera isn't facing right at the pool, or put a sticker over the lens. Any idiot should be able to figure that out. Same goes for checking Facebook on your phone, or reading the news. Don't be stupid. That's all. Thinking people are egotistical for not wanting to be in some strangers pictures? Ruining others good times by not wanting their nude pics on someone's device?!? Don't worry if some Joe Blow gets you in his pics and you wind up uploaded somewhere? Then you should feel free to post your nude pics right here. It's no big deal, right?
People DO take pics of others there. Haven't noticed it running rampant, but we have seen it. Please let us all know when you're next trip is, so we can avoid that time, we wouldn't want to kill your buzz.
I can't even......

Maybe we've just been lucky but we've never seen any of this sort of drama (or any other) while at Desire.
