We've been to Desires - RM a few years ago so we were ready for some exciting times. Though at first, I was a little apprehensive about the resort since some of the reviews about food, service and maitenance were an issue. I understood that Desires Cabo just went through a makeover this year from it's former Temptation brand so our expectations were a little low. On top of that, the wife was a little prudish about it since she's self concious and we haven't been to Desire in a while.
We flew on Virgin America into Cabo, arrived around 4:30pm. We arranged shuttle service with TransCabo as recommended by some of the other posters. We flew into the new Terminal and were a little unfamiliar with the exit process and found ourselves swarmed with Timeshare craziness on trying to exit. BTW, it's a bit of a maze as you get out of there and be aware that there are no obvious exit signs. You just have to wait to see one of the doors open to know which one is the exit. In the meantime, beware of the Timeshare vultures - they will try to stop you.
We found TransCabo Shuttle the cheapest ($11USD each way) and when we were finally on our way, behold that Desire's was the very first stop from the airport - the looks and whispers people made as we approached the entrance "Desire - "Delicously Erotic" was PRICELESS! LOL
It was a special week since it was Thanksgiving, the place was about 80% full with a good mix of the younger Temptation crowd and a few of the older Desire veterans from near and far. There was a special menu where both El Placier and Suki were open. Suki had a special buffet and even had a cook to order on the grill. BTW, i guess it depends on individual tastes, but we found the food at Desire INCREDIBLE! From the fresh omlettes and different varieties for breakfast, to lunch by grill to order by poolside to a lavished 4 course dinner, every day the food was simply OUTSTANDING!
We didn't participate much in the poolside activities during any of the the days. But we did take the Camel Safari excursion with another really nice couple from Canada the following day then stayed and relaxed by the pool and beachside the rest of the time. Hint: Everyone get's up early to reserve the lounge beds and chairs. If you sleep in, you'll lose out. Or you can pay $20 the day before to reserve. Since we were there during the end of the month, the riptides and surf were moderate to small which let us get into the warm ocean water
You'll also find vendors trying to sell you stuff from sunglasses to hats, to even weed. There was also a vendor with horses that offers $20/person for an hour guided horseback ride on the beach. We ended up doing the horseback ride during the beautiful sunset the next day. The evenings were extra spectacular with fun entertainment by the lounge area. We were so impressed with how each theme night was put together both on stage and at the disco! Like I said, our expectations weren't real high but I think, even the most season travel connosoir would be impressed.
Now the juicy details: yes, there is PDS! You definitely have to be ready to expect this if your a newbie. Most of it goes on by the bed lounges near the jacuzzi and in the playroom at the disco. You'll often see group PDS on one bed so you definitely need to keep an open mind. At times, it can be stimulation overload.
Though, we did find most of that done a little more discreetly than in Desire RM. In fact for those who are Desire repeaters, we found that Desire Cabo has much more of a party feel with the music, younger crowds, and hilarious but awesome activities staff! We found it to be a perfect balance.The best part each day was how nice the people were from around the world and how nice every staff at Desire's was. You were always greeted with an Hola, Hello and a smile. I have to say, from the people you meet at dinner to the disco to the the Front desk, to the Bell staff, to the cooks & servers and especially to the activities staff- everyone made the whole experience an ultimate special vacation to remember!!
