We should probably look at it as a "badge of honor". Only real down side was when we wandered over to Azul (to use the bathing suits we brought) and were descended upon by sales staff trying to get us to consider "going over to the dark side" next trip

We wear them on our wrist. We never get tan lines. I personally would not wear it on my ankle because I do not think it goes along with sex shoes or ankle bracelets.

A little off topic but we were eating lunch one day on our last trip as a fully clothed, backpack toting couple walked in from the beach and set their stuff at a table. They didn't get more than 5 feet from the table on their way to the buffet line before the head waiter was kindly telling them to beat it. Guess my point is, the wristbands really aren't needed.

Just to update this thread..... Upon check-out, they now actually cut off your bracelet as your settling up with the bill. No more souvenirs to take with you...

Point of interest - My wife has recently discovered that she prefers to wear the sexy boots instead of the stripper CFM's at night. She has always preferred to wear the bracelet around her ankle but the boots make for a bad pressure point that eventually hurt. Because of this , next time she will opt for the bracelet on her wrist. Ladies, be warned... :D

It appears Desire has implemented a new bracelet policy...all bracelets must now be worn on the wrist - no more ankle bracelets. We checked in on Friday and were told no more ankles. The change must have just been put into effect because there were several folks still with ankle bracelets. Have verified with others checking in since us that they are still saying no more bracelets on ankles.

But as a followup on another post in this thread, they rounded of the corners without even being asked :)

Just out of curiosity about the new policy hedotom reported, I did check with the resort and got a response about the bracelets.
It seems that even at Desire there are a few...shall we put it mildly and call them "bad apples." Desire had had ongoing problems with some guests charging spa services, gift shop items, or special dinners/wines to other guests rooms. In the past all you did was give them your room number and sign. But signatures weren't matching, people of coursed refused to pay for services/products they didn't buy, and Desire had to make adjustments. So, now if you bill something to the room you also have to show your bracelet to the staff member, and he/she records your bracelet number on the ticket with the signature.
Of course it would be pretty awkward for the staff person to be getting down on the ground to get that number off your ankle- and we can't all raise our ankles up to eye level.................. so that's why the new wrist only policy.

I think they may have also changed their bracelet provider. When we were there in June I had to wear the bracelet on my wrist for the first time after always wearing it on my ankle. They said something about me being too big.

Unfortunately they were talking about my ankle.

Suppose I'd wear it a head band if that is what it took for me to be there, but yes we've always preferred the ankle too.

4th time 7/27 and agree hate the bracelets... Tough to dress to the 9's with jeweled shoes and outfits (this is the wife not me) accessorized with vinyl white bracelet. Only thing I can figure is watch for me and bracelet for wife to disguise..... :( Couldn't they replace with some kind of beaded/tropical bracelet???

mfay - we just returned last night and charged several items to the room during the week. No one ever recorded the braclet number. By the end of the week the number and Desire logo had washed off.

lol- well that is interesting ! All I know is what Valentina told me. Maybe they have come up with another way to verify ? Hopefully we'll hear from others over the next few weeks and maybe the whole thing will go away and we'll be back to having a choice of where to wear them............

Ugh! I cant stand wearing things on my wrists! I don't ever even wear a watch because of it. The first trip at Desire I lasted all of a half day before I went and had them cut it off and put it on my ankle. This does not make me happy :(
