I agree wholeheartedly with the electronic books but I kinda wonder about people reading on the beds in the jacuzzi area. Really? the play area of the resort, and only 6 beds and someone wants to read while people wait for a bed(my wife and I did for an hour). Plenty of lovely beds on the beach, around the quiet end of the pool, you really look odd reading between two beds of couples having fun. I use my Kindle on the beach all the time. My iPad is too hard to see in the bright sun so I never use it, plus the kindle battery is so much better.

Yet there are always those who would ignore ~ No Smoking sign is ignored by a handful of people.

We have also noticed that occasionally couples will have their butler (Penthouse guests) place a "reserved" sign on a bed along with a beach bag. And it may or may not be used.

Great idea on the personal item sign. LOL, etiquette is etiquette, and if people are going to continue to ignore it and common courtesy I'm afraid some toes will be stepped on. My wife is a sweetheart and never wants to upset others
but she also appreciates me addressing people who are idiots on occasion. I must admit I was really worked up over walking through ashes from a smoker and if he had objected to putting his cigarette out it would have gotten ugly.
Love the resort but I must admit, the new crowd we are seeing at Desire has a few "issues". If a butler puts a reserved sign on a jacuzzi bed he is welcome to come try and pull my brown butt off it lol.

I had thought of that very thing when I posted my comments. Yes, I agree that there are some who use their devices as e-books. Good of you to offer to put a small sticker over the camera lens.

Not everyone is a creeper who brings an electronic photo-capable device to the pool and beach but those that are creepers can ruin it for the whole lot of us.

I am not sure about this now but I know there were 'rules' posted about cameras, smoking in certain places, and lounge / bed saving, long pants for men in the restaurants, etc. But perhaps some people can't read? Or perhaps some people think that the 'rules' don't apply to them? Maybe the 'rules' at Desire are made to broken?

I don't think Desire has many 'rules', but the ones they do have should be read, understood and be respected by all. I will read the 'rules' in a couple of weeks' time and report back. :wink:

Just my humble opinion. =:)

:L

Very well said! We are really looking forward to our first visit next week and have an expectation that the excellent staff, which we have read so much about, are empowered to enforce those rules that are in place when someone decides that they are above such rules.

Can't wait to arrive! Counting the days....

please don't think I am the "rules" police lol. far from it. Wife and I certainly have broken a few.....lol. We certainly wouldn't break a rule to intrude on another couple, damage Desire property, or risk a confrontation with the local police on the beach. there aren't many rules to begin with so I really doubt there is ever much of a problem. you guys will love Desire on your first visit and be hooked like we are

Back to the original post... Having just returned I'm happy to announce many people's number one pet peeve is still alive and well!! People still sleep, eat, smoke, and take up beds with their stuff. We were on a bed next to one with stuff, when a guy came up to the bed looked at me, I just like shrugged my shoulders next thing I know their stuff was flying through the air. He should of got a standing ovation, come to find out they were playing on a bed on the other side of the jacuzzi. Think they got the message as they snuck over to retrieve their stuff not saying a word.
Some people think they're the only ones at the resort!

I guess we all have to have something to fire us up. Gives us energy to use elsewhere! :bj

Seriously though...yes...it is pretty sad really. Grab a bed, f**k your brains out as a couple, triple, quintet or small ensemble and then move on back to the jacuzzi. Just please remove the towels you hopefully put down when you do. I'll be glad to buy you as many drinks as you want as thanks. Or to help you recover. Because I care. :wink:
Have a great day! Hope to see you in the future.

I'd prefer not to presume the worst from "that" couple. I suspect they (at least most) have every intention of a quick splash, then return to the bed, then they get locked in unexpected conversation and just forgot. The worst they're guilty of is inconsideration from their drunken, sexual-bliss-infested mind. Seriously, if something good/unexpected starts up, the last thing most will be thinking of is their "stuff". Just like at the gym, I don't have a problem setting aside clothes, bag, towel with respect, sometimes even folding it as I lay it beside the machine/bed - no one deserves to have their stuff "tossed," unless the tosser is looking to stir things up. We all don't need any old-fashioned drama ... be cool, relax, and use the bed as you want/deserve.

Exactly.......well said SunBeach! We certainly have done that before, no beds open except one with "stuff" and my better half was ready to play......so, we simply moved the stuff to the side, laid down the towels and enjoyed the moment in the sun. No harm, no foul!

Funny how so many enjoy seeing someone else step up and correct inconsiderate or rude behavior. After waiting many times for a bed we will be much more proactive on our next visit to politely move personal belongings to a cubby, ask people with electronics to "connect" elsewhere since the Jacuzzi is for "real" connections and old fashion fun. A little tactful, polite, and sincere communication goes a long way and if people take offense I am sure the staff would address an issue to prevent it from escalating....I hope

Oh come one. I don't care how drunk, or "sexually-blissful" one is....if you leave a bed unoccupied, with all your stuff on it, and wind up on a bed on the OTHER side of the jacuzzi playing, you ARE an inconsiderate asshole.

During our visit we could not find space in the afternoon due to exactly what everyone else is stating--- Reading their iPod, sleeping, etc. Since it was our first visit we were not sure what the rules were-- we even saw couples placing "reserved" signs on beds at 330 ! It was so bad we used one of the beds at 300 before everyone else arrived. My wife enjoyed putting os a show for the men getting the bar ready !!!

It is just a matter of education and good manners. Just place your items inside the cubicles and just use the beds when you are actually in the mood and let it free for others. Blocking the beds is just unjustified.

<puzzled look>
Oh, that was your reserved sign?
</puzzledlook>
<sheepish smile>
Silly me. I thought that was our reserved sign.
<dramatic pause>
We'll be wrapping in a few. You're welcome to observe while you wait.
