Hiding from the sun in pool area?

Postby mistral » Mon Feb 02, 2009 10:15 am

I had surgery recently and my doctor recommends not to expose the scar to the sun AT ALL... I'm wondering if there's more shade in the pool area than when we were last there, in Dec 2007? Back then, there were only chairs around the pool, and a few umbrellas...

Also, There are many beach beds that have side curtains and tops to minimize sun exposure. I would advise that you get to the pool early to "claim" a shaded lounger. If you don't you may be able to switch with someone who has a shaded lounger if you explain your situation. I know we've done that before when a couple asked if we would trade because she was badly sunburned....People at desire are very giving.....in more ways than one

remember, though, that even in the shade there, you will get sun exposure in the form of reflections off the water, tile, etc...one woman was laughing how she burned, as she decided to forego sunscreen because she was completely in the shade.....

Hi, I also must be very careful not to get too much sun exposure. Just to be on the safe side, I always bring a small portable beach umbrella and some cord to tie it to the side of a chair...just in case. So far, I have only used it a couple times during our 5 trips to Desire. There are lots more umbrellas now at the resort and if you ask they can often find additional ones.
