We're just back from our fourth visit to Desire, and thought we'd share a few do's and don'ts that extend beyond the usual helpful packing list tips and other basic items, based upon our actual experiences.
Don't slam the door to your room so hard that the entire building shakes...especially at 8 AM...and especially more than once.
Don't use the jacuzzi beds as a place to dump your stuff. There are plenty of storage cubbies near both the bar and shower. The jacuzzi beds are there for one purpose and one purpose only.
Do tip your service staff for exceptionally good service. It will almost always guarantee exceptional service throughout your stay from great people like Africa.
Don't use the playroom and jacuzzi beds as a place for loud chit chat. Pillow talk is fine, but loud conversations about all kinds of random minutiae are best reserved for other more suitable venues.
Don't wear camo at Desire. Ever.
Do dress for dinner and the disco. That's mostly aimed at the men, of course, and it doesn't mean wearing black tie, a coat or tie. It does mean wearing something other than tennis shoes to dinner or a printed tee shirt.
Do be open to meeting new people and engaging in conversation with them.
Don't stand fully clothed gawking at others in the playroom.
Do remember your neighbors may keep radically different hours than you.
Do keep an open mind. And do have fun!
