Moving rooms

Postby casey » Sat Jul 30, 2011 9:13 am

One of the weeks I am looking at the GV room is not available the first night, so I could book a OV room the first night then GV for the following nights.
If it is a low occupancy week, will they still move you, or just let you stay in the room if there is no demand?

It would be no problem to book an OV for just one night and then move to the GV the next day. There is even an option to plan this on Desires own booking engine I believe. You could also specify that if a GV room does open up, you would like it instead of the OV.

As for staying in the OV room at GV price...don't hold your breath ! This is a can of worms that the resort really doesn't want to open. Anyways, "low occupancy" really isn't an issue at Desire anymore as they consistently run at 80% or better. They will happily (& seamlessly) move you after your first day.

Hello Casey

We agree with tout.prest, it really is well... seamless. While you are at the pool or beach, etc, they will take your bags and move you into the new room. You will just have to have your card for the door lock redone for the new room.

The resort will always give you the option of upgrading your room if it is available, however and up charge will apply I am sure. The only other way we have seen this not to be the case is if the resort has over sold the room class and then moves you into say an OV at no charge.

Hope this helps as well.
Have a great week.

Room availability

Postby CplNlove » Sun Jul 31, 2011 9:41 am

Casey, Did you check directly with Desire reservations? I had a similar issue, opposite room types. The reservation engine showed rooms booked for the type I wanted but when I emailed them directly they had availability for the rooms and nights I was looking for. This may be the same case.
