Can someone tell me what really happens on the Desire Catamaran trip?? Is it more than just a snorkeling and shopping trip?? I hear things that it is and than I hear that nothing happens. I would love to know what really happens on this boat ride. Thanks!

Really depends on the trip. We have not been on it but we know a couple that has. There was a lot of activity on the trip they went on.

What happens on the boat stays on the boat...

It probably really depends on the people on the boat. We might try the boat trip next year, let's see what happens

cheers!

We went for a cat sail labor day weekend, and the second half of the trip, was AS MUCH FUN, as the playroom that night.

How long is the cat trip?

And how rough are the seas usually? That will determine whether anything "happens."

Our trip ran from about 11:00 to 3:00. Cats are very stable boats, so it shouldn't be to rough. They won't go out, if it is.

It DEFINITELY depends on the couples on the boat.
Probably best to go with friends with whom you have already become acquainted either via your Yahoo group or your experiences at the resort prior to the Cat Cruise.

Desire Catamaran Trip

Postby jboog1 » Mon Nov 07, 2011 10:10 am

Just returned from Desire yesterday. We tried to go on a catamaran trip on Saturday Nov.5. We booked it on Thursday AM paying by MasterCard. (On a prior Desire trip 2 years ago, paid cash, trip canceled & had trouble getting refund ended up $20 short). This time, I checked the status on Friday and was told trip still on. Saturday 9AM, trip still on with 3 couples going. Saturday 10AM, trip still on but departure pushed back to noon. Show up at noon, we were the only couple there (what happened to the other 2 couples?) but no captain. 15 minutes later, captain was reportedly drunk but there was a "sunset dinner cruise" for an extra $10 per person. I can understand not having enough participation to run a trip, but clearly the guy booking the trip knew what was going on and misrepresented the status multiple times. Desire apparently does not run/control these activities but the resort does give them a spot near the pool. I think think the resort needs to "police" this a little more. We ended up getting another massage at the spa so all was not lost!

This was several years ago. Cat cruise left from Temptations. Seems like the resort sales rep was named Ricardo, and he was having trouble getting enough couples involved. Basically, one of our group members took charge and organized and recruited the 7 couples and everyone had paid in advance so there was no confusion. A lot of couples really do not want to leave the resort and that's understandable. But if you have the right group on the Cruise, it's like an all day adventure in the Playroom. And frankly, during the day until the hot tub opens, there is not all that much going on at Desire that you'll regret missing out on if you have the right group of friends on the Cruise.

We did the trip about a year ago from the resort beach with three other couples, we got off half way onto a smaller boat to swim over the reef (marine park) then we were dropped back to the cat over near the marina (think it's the same town that Claudia's massages are done ") had another swim then headed back to Desire had a good half day out. Only things to remember is sun screen (not just for the boat but in the water as well) and some nibbles (wife did a deal with the restaurant staff who packed us some food to take no charge)
