Walking from RM to Pearl

Does anyone have any idea how long it would take to walk the beach from one to the other?

It is approximately 3 1/4 miles along the beach from Desire RM to Desire Pearl - the time taken really depends on how fast you walk - lol

We walked along the beach from Desire to the yet to become Desire Pearl and it took us an hour and 20 minutes (one way). It's an easy walk. We met a couple who was staying there (the Ceiba del Mar) and they said there were 8 guests on the whole resort.

It's a beautiful resort and looks just perfect for another Desire property. We can't wait to try it out!

We talked to Martin Good about it at the Repeaters Cocktail Party and he says that the clothing optional aspect on the beach is now a non-issue and that it will be c/o.

All of the staff at Desire Cancun are super-excited about the whole thing. Some of them may be going over to the Pearl property - no one really knows anything for sure, though.

Thanks for the info guys. We're thinking about changing the first half of our August trip from RM to Pearl but we are a bit worried that there won't be very many people there like when we went to Cabo the first time it opened as a Desire and there were less than 20 people there. That sounds like a pretty easy walk so if Pearl is dead we'll just take a walk and see what's happening at RM.

I do believe that Martin mentioned that there is a possibility of a shuttle between the two resorts. That would be a nice touch, wouldn't it?

You take a taxi to Puerto Morelos and then walk to Desire Pearl which would be much closer than walking the entire way from Desire RM. That is what we plan to do as I doubt there will be a shuttle from Desire RM as Pearl will not yet be open when we are there 2/25 through 3/3.

I'm guessing, but there may be a way to use the boat from Desire as I bet it will be servicing both resorts each day..

Can girls walk on the beach topless? I know that people can't be nude other than on the beachfront right in front of the Desire(s)... But can the girls be topless walking down the beach? We are going to walk between the 2 Desire resorts and would like to know what's allowed and appropriate.

No- you can't walk topless down the beach. Walking to Pearl, you will cross through a small public docking/restaurant area and then the beach area for a few other resorts. You'd cause quite a stir topless...............

But I don't think anyone is going to stop you if you do. I was wearing a skimpy Wicked Weasel bikini and got tonnes of looks from the folks at the vanilla resorts and I'm sure I'm on a few cameras but we have seen girls (not many) walking the beaches topless. You can take your chances. :wink:

If you are planning to walk that far in WW and or Topless you may also want to carry a heart starter as the number of old people you will excite in more than one way could be quit high. Mind you I don't think it would help if they came around after you saved them to find you still in the same outfit. Lots of batteries I guess.. :shock:

OK I asume that if I'm at RM and I am facing the ocean I should turn to my left and walk to find the Pearl. Is that correct?

No. If you're at RM, facing the ocean, Pearl is about 3.5 miles to the right...

Just looking for more information about walking to the Pearl. How hard is it to get past the Small Dock area? Do you have to leave the beach or get into the water? Do these businesses frown on you trying to get past them?

There are no "business's) between DRM and Pearl. Pearl is completely north of the actual town of Puerto Morelos.

The walk between DRM and Pearl via the beach will take you about one hour and there are a couple of areas that are congested with seaweed and difficult walking - you will probably only want to walk one way and will take a taxi back - lol
