Pool beds, chairs and beach beds

Postby J & D » Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:53 pm

Currently setting at poolside at Desires RM. left my room and walked got down to the pool at 7:45 AM. Asked for a bed reserved for members, was told the only thing available was chairs. I am a member, as well but took a chair. Well, almost 1:00PM and three of the five have been vacant since I got here at 8:00 AM. It seems like there should be a better way to reserve and acquire the pool beds and chairs. Kind of pisses me off seeing three of the five beds not in use all morning when I wanted one at 8:00 AM. Same problem at Cabo as well. This is our 7th trip to RM and 11th trip to a Desires resort. I plan to look at Jamaica for future trips. I am tired of the same problems reoccurring at Desire Resorts.

Dec 21st at 2:40 PM and 2 of the 5 pool beds have been vacant all day. I asked for one at 8;00 AM and no beds were available. Really?

We have been 4 times and it is always different last time we were there we got a massage and came back and they had given our chairs away...yet you see chairs and beds reserved all day for people that show up late in the afternoon. Totally agree this is really unfair, we all pay good money to go to the resort, not sure if maybe these people give the pool guy a huge tip at the beginning of their stay and then they automatically get better service. We are cheap by no means and tip Sylvia and our favorite servers very well! I do agree if someone doesn't come to the pool by let's say 10 or 11 , their chair/ bed can be used or if the chair/ bed isn't used for 1-1 1/2 hrs then it also can be used by another guest....no exceptions!! Then it's fair to everyone.

Jobesw- you make some good points, the best of which there doesn't seem to be any rules. This issue still lingers on my mind today. I guess paying them a premium for your stay at Desire isn't enough, the expectation is for you to caugh up another $200 or $300 for the "Services" rendered.

J&D - sorry you're experiencing that during your stay! We have been many, many times and Danny is typically very fair about the chair and lounger set up. Often going to the beach area to bring in as many loungers as can fit around the pool area without making it a frickin obstacle course. Anyway, if they go unused for a couple hours then just simply go to your butler if you are a member and he'll take care of it.

So, not sure if you know but you'll need to be there at 7 AM if you want to get on the list for a good spot. I know, way too early, I've actually walked over from one of the beach beds after a long night at the disco, jacuzzi and late night pizza just to reserve our bed before getting an hour or two of sleep before heading back over to the pool. Anyway, good luck!
