Car Rental Question

Hi all,

I have a question about car rentals and am having a difficult time getting a solid answer from the resort.

We have decided to extend out visit to MX by 2 days so we can do other activities further south of Desire. Those first 2 days will be spent at different lodging in Akumal. We are going to need a car to get to Akumal and then back up to Desire on our original check in day. We preferred to use a transfer service to get to Desire, get the car rental from Desire, drive to Akumal, then return to Desire two days later and return the vehicle to Desire.

Will Desire allow us to do this? I read somewhere that they won't even let guests into the resort unless their name is on a check in list to begin their stay. We COULD get a car from the airport and drive straight to Akumal, but we don't want to have to return the car to the airport. If we had to rent from the airport, do you know if we can return to the car at Desire and leave it there?

I'm afraid to get wrong info due to a language barrier, or just assuming we can do what we need, and then we get screwed when we get there. Anyone else have similar experience with this? We are Desire newbs!

The short simple answer is that given your schedule, you would be best to rent at the airport. You could check out easywayrentacar.com who we have used before - I believe that for a small extra fee they will come and pick up the car from Desire after you have checked in.
