I was going to write my own report, but since you seemed to have arrived shortly after us, I figure I'll just add to yours, since I wanted to reference some of the things you said.Admin note: see post viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3529

For reference we're 28, married and not swingers.

We went with the Hellians group on 6/18-6/24. They got there a few days before us. The resort was at 100% capacity the entire week.

I agree, the Eyes Wide Shut ceremony was completely lame and out of place compared to the other nights. Pretty much every other event they had planned during the disco should not be missed. The circus in particular was amazing and I think most of the guests that were at Pearl were packed in there for that.

In previous reviews, people had complained about the music in the night club. While there were a few nights where all that was played was pitbull, the DJ actually did a good job catering the music to the people and a variety of music was played. As was mentioned in the above review though, the club clears out in about an hour. Its not surprising considering I personally think its more fun to be having fun in the hot tub naked than to be dancing.

We didn't try the resort's spa, but did try the Jungle Spa. It was a great massage, I think it was $60 for two people getting an hour massage and an aloe wrap. It was a good massage, but I would only do it if you have plenty of time. We went at from Pearl -> Jungle Spa -> RM. Our appointment was at 11 a.m. and by the time we got to RM it was 3 p.m. Not sure where the time went. You do get to try a shot of what I can best describe as Mexican Absynth. It was the same licorice tasting drink they served at Pearl. Except at Pearl they lit it on fire.

We didn't get approached at all, but we were together for the entirety of the trip, maybe just a few minutes apart, so it was probably obvious that we weren't swingers. We also tended to stay to ourselves for the most part, although we had rehearsed a polite response if approached.

We participated in the morning aqua fitness. Everyone had a bathing suit except for me. It felt awkward. It ends with people getting in a line and massaging each others shoulders and back in the water. A few people bailed out when it got to that stage. I wish I had time to try out more of the activities, but we had each day packed full of stuff we wanted to try such as renting a car and driving to Tulum and checking out one of the local cenotes. I recommend both. The cenote was really cool, and also pretty cold.

We also went to RM twice. One of the things we were looking forwards to was sailing using the Hobie Cats. This was a lot of fun, and I wish that Pearl could get some sail boats as well. I liked the beach beds and the beach at RM much better. I also liked the food at the buffet a lot better than the lunch options at Pearl, but my wife disagreed. We checked out the jacuzzi at RM during the afternoon. It paled in comparison to Pearl. Pearl is a much better resort in my opinion. The rooms at Pearl seemed very nice to me, even though we got the basic oceanview room. I do recommend getting a room near the jacuzzi and pool, it would be great if they installed some bathrooms closer to the pool or jacuzzi as all the drinking that goes on makes you have to go and we had to run back and forth to our rooms a few times.

Age felt like a non-issue. People were primarily in their 40s, but there were some people our age as well. Of course it was the older people that were more energetic and sexual. There were all body types there, and no one cared how you looked.

The food was great, and we didn't have to wait long at any restaurant. Pearl did seem slower than Aphrodite, and I personally liked the food at Aphrodite better, remember you can order seconds if you enjoy it.

However, although the food was good, it wasn't the best, i.e. we went to El Dorado Seaside Suites for our honeymoon and the food there was better, wider selection and every dish was delectable. Another big difference was the drinks. There they mixed in fruits into most of the mixed drinks they made. I missed this from there. They did that at Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica as well, which was a hundred dollars a night cheaper than Pearl. Those resorts of course didn't have the same atmosphere as Pearl, so it may be more an apples and oranges thing.

Overall, we had a blast at Pearl and recommend it to anyone that can afford it. I would probably recommend going with a group, since then you're more certain of the mood / people that would be there, and even at capacity the pool is so huge you can be on the quite side and still feel like you have it to yourself. In fact at 3:00 p.m. the pool bar closes and the party moves to the jacuzzi and you can have the pool all to yourself. Its a lovely place, wish I was there right now.

My wife and I are 'swingers' and we also spend the entire week together - & we get approached almost from the moment we arrive. Not sure what the how we all know, buy we seem to.

Funny about being approach. Hell we get it when we go out to regular bars in Indianapolis. Lynn and I just look at each other to check that we haven't written swingers on our foreheads.
