Personally I always liked the quiet, simple elegance and intimacy of the original Il Piacere that differentiated it from the open style buffet and Suki restaurants.

Oh well............

What exactly does "sensual-elegant dress code" mean?

Ugh.....I'd like it if they just had some paintings on the walls, but that picture.......what were they thinking. Tacky as all hell. :DL :DL

I like the more open look of it and I don't look good in white. I really didn't like all those things hanging down from the ceiling when it was the white decor. I read on their site they had wonderful new vegetarian choices that look and sound absolutely delicious.

Can't wait to see and taste it all for myself! November can't come soon enough.

Interesting comments on this topic and clearly it's impossible to please everyone so the one thing I do like is management is not letting the resort go "stale"! We have seen and/or read about how other lifestyle resorts are getting old and run down without much reinvestment to keep it relevant. With renovations to the rooms, disco, restaurants and themes it's clear that they have listened to guests comments and have decided to step up their game.

Okay, okay......do I like the new restaurant? Not sure yet but we'll tell you in mid March when we return from 12 blissful days at the two Desire properties. Yes, the white restaurant was nice and sexy but I am a fan of change if done tastefully and of course keeping the upscale dress requirements. It's nice to dress it up a little for dinner (in our opinion), if I want to see shorts and tank tops at dinner we'd do the buffet.....which we DON'T!

Kudos to ownership!

So are we to assume that there will be a piano bar in the newly renovated restaurant? I have long wished for something similar to the piano bar at Hedo 2.

Have mixed feelings about the renovations. Its pretty sleek looking and reminds me a bit of the renovations at Pearl. We really liked Piacere - it was upscale, elegant, and many of the tables had some privacy. Our last 4 trips we dined there no less than 4 times during each week, sometimes 5. I commend Original Resorts for all the investments that have been made to the resort, however. They've done quite a bit over the last 3 years. We'll go with an open mind and hopefully it will remain our favorite restaurant at Desire RM. Will report on our experiences when we return.

Is there a piano bar in the new restaurant? The official press release on the previous post mentions after dinner piano bar and jazz.

Sahlo opened on October 16th, we were the very first couple to be seated.
Menu seems to include more items, some of the same items with a slight twist. Atmosphere was similar but given the decor I can see that it would change slightly - a bit less intimate - the set up would work better for large groups.
Kinda "eh" on the changes - didn't feel it was necessary, could take it or leave it.

We thought the restaurant was well done and the food was enjoyable, although it just felt a little smaller to us. They had 2 video screens in the restaurant that was playing while we had dinner; we did pay attention to what was playing though. To be honest, we thought that the video screens were more of a distraction than adding any type of visual value to the dinning experience.

We were at Desire RM the week of Oct. 19 to Oct. 26. We ate at Sahlo 4 times. Overall thought the food and service were very good. Thought the menu was improved from our previous trip when it was Piacere (March 2012). Both of us tried several different appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts and were pleased with the food as well as the overall experience. Our last night we were celebrating our anniversary and we ordered a bottle of wine and selections from the premium, extra cost menu (lobster tails and filet mignon, which were both really good, particularly the filet). There were some complaints about slow service, although the service we received was excellent. I think the key is getting there by 8:00 before it gets really busy. We liked the decor, more than I thought we would after seeing the photos. Agree with the previous poster regarding the video screens, although found them somewhat entertaining. There was a small band that started around 9:00PM the first night we were there. The sound system was terrible, but when speaking with Gen. Mananger Martin Good at the repeaters party, he indicated they were well aware of it and had already made the necessary adjustments.

We took a day trip to Desire Pearl, (we spent a week there last fall) and definitely like Sahlo much better than its counterpart, the Pearl restaurant. Thought the new Aphrodite Restaurant at Pearl was very well done (it had just opened) but don' feel the same way about the Pearl restaurant.
