New fee to visit from RM to pearl or visa versa

I would like to explain to you the reasons why we are charging now the Day pass .

We have a full occupancy more often every time, we want to give you all the level of attention and service that you deserve.

We have also two different budgets in every hotel. What you consume at DRM stays in DRM, the budget is not shared between the hotels.

As you know, Pearl is more expensive in the rates too, and we want to provide excellence in our Resort.

Having no chairs available around the pool would be unacceptable. So we want to avoid that.

Regarding PXXXXr, I will make sure that nobody approaches you to invite you to our Repeaters Program during your stay.

I would also gladly explain to you the porpoises of charging a day pass between hotels.
As you know, Pearl is more expensive in rates, therefore the product has a much better quality in all the services we provide.
The attention in both Desires is excellent, but here we give to you different options that DRM doesn’t have.

Our occupancy is very high during the year and we only want to give you the excellence in our service.

Whenever you pay for a night in one of the hotels, the night paid for stays in the hotel’s budgets.
In simpler words, what you consume in DRM stays in DRM. We don’t share budgets as company.

We are not denying the entrance for anyone at any of the hotels, but both have the same rules applied.

As you were commenting before about Palace Resorts, I would like you to know that you are not allowed to go to Le Blanc (Top hotel in Palace Resorts) for example without paying extra, it is the same situation here. The rates are more expensive, therefore they don’t allow guests to have free day passes .

I mentioned palace resorts because they are well known for their stay at one play at all policy. LE Blanc is a far higher quality resort in the palace resort group, not like RM or pearl. So they believe that pearl is worthy of an up charge. The food is the same, service is the same, theme nights are the same. That's a lousy answer. And if that is the case why do people at pearl have to pay to go to the lesser RM resort?
Bs answers looking to justify a bad policy. I also complained about the check in so that's what that is all about. I wrote them back and told them that I didn't agree and the food, service, parties are the same at both resorts, in the end I think they will find the policy bad for customers and the company alike.
So looks like they need to hear from more people and have some bad press over it.

We are going to Pearl in July. We have no interest in going to RM and last year a group came to Pearl for the day from. rM and we found it annoying. Staying in the resort you are booked in is not a big deal.

We walked to Pearl from DRM last November and enjoyed lunch and the hot tub. We have to say that the food at Pearl is substantially more upscale and way more variety.

Does the $150.00 include transportation?

Non-issue for us, as well. If we really wanted to go to both resorts, we would book a few nights at each facility.

Also, can you clarify the situation in September during your renovations.
"Likewise, our Desire Resort & Spa will serve lunch at the Reef restaurant for the week of Sept. 1st through 7th with a sensual atmosphere and the most delicious tastes. In addition, we will offer free transportation to Desire Pearl from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. so that our guests can have their fantasy of enjoying both Desires all at once come true."
Please can you confirm that there will be absolutely NO CHARGE to any guests at Desire that wish to visit Pearl during this period.

Not yet, my reply was from Pearl (RM have not bothered to reply yet). I have e-mailed them again, and they asked me where I got the information from! They have no knowledge of it at all.
The right hand obviously has no idea what the left hand is doing!

It most interesting that they will give you 35% off their rates while they do some repairs to the pool and that the beach will be closed as well. But they will open the spa at 10a for guest use, also provide transportation to Pearl from 10a to 6p; then charge $150 for the trouble off going off property to their sister property to use a pool.
Sounds like a good business decision to me; give your guest 35% off regular rates while work is going on all around you, offer free transportation to sister property then charge $150 go that you don't have to listen to repair work. Its win/win for them, they still get money for guest staying there instead of closing for a month but charge extra for these same guest to really enjoy a Desire stay.
Just checked the rates for a Ocean View room at both resorts fromSep.16 to Sep.23.
DRM was $379 then add $150 to visit Pearl equals $529 per day.

Pearl was $497 so it seems that the parent company is making $32 for each visitor from RM to Pearl.

While we haven't been before and can't comment on groups from RM coming or going (sounds like fun to meet different friends for a day!), I couldn't agree more that staying at the resort we chose to book is not an issue. We picked Pearl over RM after looking at our options, and I have no interest in visiting RM. Because of that, I really couldn't care less.

If Pearl costs more, is nicer, etc, maybe that reasoning does make sense. Also, based on Funtimes' comment above, could it be that people complained about visitors coming from each resort to the other?

OK, so some of us can see the logic behind this. So why then, are there currently guests at Pearl that have been bumped from Temptation for free?

Wow, being bumped from Temptation to Pearl?! Isn't that like quadruple the price point? I haven't been to Temptation in years but that would have been quite a nice upgrade!

With spring break coming up maybe we will have our TA check to see when Temptations is booked full and get booked for that week. Then maybe we can get bumped to one of the Desire Resorts at the low Temptation rate. Can't hurt to try.

I guess if a couple are going to be at the other resort for the day and have to pay the fee, I believe that their paid cost at their resorts for that day should be credited to them since they will not be there and take that credit to the other. Seems to me the Desire RM and Pearl come out ahead with this new policy. Provide the couple with a credit voucher to take with them to the other resort that will be charged back to their own resort. That way the visited resort isn't out on the 'budget' for the expenses of the visitors...... but it doesn't make them money, which is the real reason for this new policy.
