New fee to visit from RM to pearl or visa versa

Talked to a couple that just returned from Pearl, said all the RM visitors had coupons that they were handing out at RM to come over to Pearl. Not sure what that's all about!

Maybe Coke could start a new section on the forum called "Day Bracelet Exchange Program" , where you can register to swap your bracelets ( and partners if you wish) on a nominated day at a halfway point. Who knows maybe this may be a new service the cab company's may offer, may be a new business on the beach between the resorts, couple of jet skis and a bead repair kit...

But then you got to wonder why the resorts could not work this out together and instate a program where it's a "one for one" visits system, i.e. where you have a set number of placers available during the day at both resorts for set times, thus keeping costs neutral between the resorts and still getting to show off each property, you could add a couple of dollars to cover the administration (and taxi ride) and not piss every one off, but hay they think it will make more dollars this way I guess.

That is not good! One of the benefits that was "sold" to me before I booked a week at Pearl was that we could visit RM for a change of scenery, vibe, and food. If they want to change the rules, it's their decision, but this sort of significant policy change SHOULD NOT apply to people who booked their stay under a different policy. Boo!!!

The wife and I stayed at the Great Parnassus Resort and Spa last November prior to a Desire RM visit and they have a second resort The Golden Parnassus (adults only) just a mile or so further down the hotel strip. As a guest you can visit back and forth, with notice of course, with no charge for day pass or any other pass. Eating at any of the restaurants at either hotel is part of the package. They don't seem to have a problem with it so why should either Desire Resort??????????????? Having more consumption of beverages or food stuffs may or may not happen during your visit or you may just want to eat out at the "Y"...............for the number of persons that visit back and forth, in my opinion do not sufficiently vary the amount of consumed product to validate and extra charge for passes as the Parnassus hotels have realized.

We agree with Northernlightscpl. If the resort feels the need to charge for use of the other resort than where you are staying, they should credit for the time you are not using your original resort, otherwise they are just double dipping. If Pearl is more costly than RM...the cost/credits could be easily adjusted to compensate. We are visiting Pearl in May for a week and we were looking forward to checking out RM for a day.....having paid several thousand for the week on top of the several more thousand for our special membership in Cabo that doesn't exist anymore....starting to feel a little loss of Desire....

We have been to neither and are visiting pearl in may. We have a penthouse for part of our stay and wanted to check out RM for a day, just to see what it is like compared to Pearl. It will be interesting to see if they try to charge us. Ridiculous that we could pay so much a night and be charged $150 to check out their other property. I will email now to voice our disapproval.

Unfortunately the policy doesn't allow me to give you day passes on your
entire stay for free, as it would be really unfair on all the other guests
that are paying for their day passes to visit both Desires.
What I could do for you is I will speak to the Manager at DRM and I might be
able to give you access to their foam party just for one day.

I would also like to explain to you that when you book a night at Desire
Pearl, your money stays in DP's budget. Same with DRM.
The 150 usd us for your consume on the hotel you are not staying in. The
real cost of the day pass is 250usd. But between Desires is 150usd.
If you would like to go Temptation the rate is 240usd with no discount.

It is a shame that the budgets can't be worked out between the two Desires, since they both are Original Resort properties. I think in the future this will likely cause us to split our stay between the resorts or try other options. We like the upscale elegance of Pearl but also like to party which we are told is more frequent at DRM. It is a shame we can't have both. If I am paying a premium to stay at Pearl it just doesn't seem right to have to pay more to visit a resort owned by the same company when that resort actually costs less. The policy is not very customer centric. Really unfair to other guests? It is really unfair to all guests that you are now charging a fee for something we feel we already paid for in our booking.

Temptation guests are not allowed to visit Desire. So nice of them to allow us to visit Temptation. Doesn't matter that I spent over $2000 more to stay at pearl. Their logic is all over the place. I think they are trying to present it as a benefit but logically it makes no sense. All about making more $

So using this logic.......if the $150 is used to compensate the resort you go to visit for the day for you "consuming".......then you can't be "consuming" at your original resort so why not credit you for that? (aka Can't be consuming in 2 places at once) That way its fair to all Desire guests and fair to both resorts. We must be missing something?

That's seems to be the way all companies are going, anything to take a penny from their customers. Most recently the airlines charging for bags so now the overheads are jammed to save on paying a fee, then it was charging for a sandwich on a 8 hour flight. Now I have read that several airlines are thinking of pay toilets on their planes. Talk about being trapped.
Now getting back to the Desire properties and the fee for guest to visit the other resort is in my mind just a attempt to collect more from their guest as they believe that since they have only lifestyle friendly resorts that they can do whatever they want as people will keep coming back. They had better look out if the new owners of Hedo 2 follow up on their plans to completely remodel that property and keep the rates at a reasonable level. As I was told years go by a very good salesman " Would you rather make a lot of money a little at a time from a lot of people or make a large amount at once from a very few people and not have them come back?"
From what I have read on this site some guest are starting to complain about the state of the resort, music, not enough beach chair, pool furniture being run down, the quality of the food slipping, rooms, ect. About the only thing that hasn't gotten worse is the staff they still work their tails off for the guest with a smile on their face. Now that is customer service that seems to have been lost in a lot of companies. And that is why we keep going back. But believe me if a new lifestyle resort was to open we would be among the first to check it out.

Exactly! They do not offer a day pass, so the "discount price" for Desire guests is total fiction!
And no, Temptation guests cannot visit Desire on a day pass, but are STILL being bumped to Pearl FOR FREE, so all this "the budget at xxx stays at xxx " is a load of rubbish too!

One slight correction, they must offer a day pass as we met a couple on March 9th at Pearl who was just there for the day from another resort.....not any of the Desire or Temptation properties. They paid $250 US and had to leave by 6PM......

When checking in next month, I plan on voicing my displeasure about this. We were thinking of checking out Pearl for a day and possibly staying there when we return again in Oct.. We will let them know that because of this "new" policy and the fact we have to pay to go between the resorts, it made our decision that much easier and we will not even entertain the thought of booking at Pearl now. If everyone just boycotted Pearl this way and let management know this upon check in they may wake up. Also, if you are a member, make it known that you will not recommend anyone else joining because what they offer today may not be what you get tomorrow. Not too impressed!!
