Is December a slow month?

Postby mrconduct » Sun Sep 28, 2014 8:56 pm

Hello everyone. Looking for some info (reassurance) on pre-Christmas crowds. It seems that most people that are going in December are there in the beginning. We are there from the 19-24th. My questions are:
1. Will the hotel be at full capacity around this time?. Is there any way of knowing before we go?
2. Does the hotel have less Europeans at this time?
3. Does this time of the year have a different lifestyle to vanilla ratio?
4. What the weather like at this time?

Thank you

We are going from Dec 19 - 25, this will be our 4th trip during Christmas.

1 - I would guess that occupancy was 75%+ during our previous trips, things pick up after Christmas leading into NYE, but certainly a good group of guests that visit during the Christmas holiday.

2 - Most people we have met are from Canada and the US.

3 - Not sure about the mix.

4 - We live in AZ so we get cold easily, but the days are warm and pleasant, but my wife brings a shoulder wrap for the evenings. We have not experienced much rain this time of year.

The weekend before Christmas seems to pretty much fill up, and I think it stays that way til people are forced home for work after New Years.

I don't know if there'd be more Euros, but I cant imagine why there would or wouldn't be.

I'm not sure I'd describe Desire guests as vanilla. It's always a mix of people that don't play, people that are sort of open to it, people that do it a little, and full-on swingers.

Last time we went the week before Christmas, it was consistently around 85 during the day and 75 at night.

Our first trip to the Pearl was over Christmas 2013. I would agree that the resort was around 75% full. The experience was so awesome we couldn't wait a year to go back! We booked a trip over July 4th. I can say the experience. For us, we enjoyed our time over Christmas best. The Jacuzzi was hopping over Christmas as well as over the forth of July. There was no issues getting a bed at the Jacuzzi over Christmas, it was a little more difficult in July. The main difference we noticed ......we were not bothered by mosquitoes in December.... They tore us up in July! We were in the Jacuzzi at midnight in December and not bothered with the little blood suckers. We were in retreat mode after dark in July. Even if you were up to your neck in water, they would land on the top of your head or face! They had an outdoor 4th of July meal and they brought out the mosquito repellent. Everyone ate as quickly as possible any dispersed. So.... All that said, we will be doing another December trip in the future. :bj
