Reservation thru Expedia

We originally booked an Ocean View room thru the forum beginning the end of April for 5 nights, this was to be our third visit within a year. A few days ago we decided to extend our stay by three nights, going thru the forum an ocean view room was not available. We therefore contacted the resort via email (Manuel Vasquez) knowing Expedia, etc... showed availability. They replied by offering us a 40% higher rate room as all others were sold out. Unhappy with their response we were forced to book thru Expedia!

Like most resorts, they make a block of rooms available to on line agencies such as Expedia, etc for a given price and therefore protect the agencies by promising not to book those block of rooms themselves at less than list price.

We travel internationally as well as domestic at least 12 times a year and understand how the system works. The "agencies" prices are identical to Desire prices. The resort should have access at those list prices as they are not discounted, instead of pushing a 40% higher priced room since we are already there.

Yep. All you need to use the pre-check-in is your confirmation number, which you do get when you book with either of those options.

Yep. All you need to use the pre-check-in is your confirmation number, which you do get when you book with either of those options.

We were able to pre-check and used Orbitz.
