It really is a tough question to pin point a correct answer, because it depends on the individual couple, first timers vs. 10th timers. We started with a week for the first few trips and found the more active we became in activities, meeting more new friends and planning trips with a group of annual returning friends over the number of trips, they became longer stays up to 2 weeks. However for us, after 2 weeks, the 7:30 am to 2-3 am schedule and higher level of activity than we are normally used to and were enjoying, it was time to take a break in our timeshare down the coast. Desire and like 2 week cruises we have been on, the food (even though its very good to great), it too gets old and time for a change. We've done the rest of Mexico and enjoyed it all, but have no high desire to revisit the ruins and all the attractions. It all depends on amount of time one has to vacation, other places to visit while on vacation, comfort level with activities and involvement at Desire. So there is no right answer, all an individual choice once you have been there and desire to go back. Always look forward to returning.

Thanks to all for the great inside info and perspective! Very helpful, looks like we are doing early Dec for 8 days at this point! Tuesday to a Wednesday probably.

We spent 8 days (Sun-Mon) at Pearl this past October. It was also our first visit.

The weather was fine. There was one day where it was cloudy and a bit cool to be in the pool so we just moved over to the jacuzzi. :D As others have said, it is hurricane season so I recommend decent travel insurance.

We arrived on Sunday and departed on a Monday. The extra hotel night was free due to the 4th night free and we ended up saving a couple bucks on airfare. I wouldn't worry too much about arrival dates affecting your ability to meet people. We found the crowd swells around the weekend but there are always nice people to socialize with whether or not you are into swinging. Just head over to the pool bar. You'll find folks that have been there for a few days will recognize you're a fresh face and chat you up.

As far as length of trip goes, 8 days is probably the limit for us. We were glad to have the 8th day of vacation but we were ready to return home at the end of the trip. Our days seemed to go something like this Wake Up->Morning Sex->Breakfast->Shower->Pool->Lunch->Pool->Jacuzzi->Shower->Dinner->Club->Jacuzzi->Sex on Jacuzzi Bed->Sleep. It was nice to break up the trip with a couple of adventures so we jumped off the resort twice, once for the Cancun Boobs cruise that leaves from Temptations. Second time was for lunch in Puerto Morelos. The couple we did the boobs cruise with spent a day snorkeling at Xel Ha. We regret not doing so with them.

Hope that helps.

We have usually stayed 7-8 nights. Figuring in time lost traveling and cost of flights, longer seems to make more sense for us. We also travel there to relax some from what has been a very hectic life recently. With that said it takes me (him) several days just to slow down.

But at the end of that time, we are usually a little bored with the food but not of the fun, sun, and people.

We have done the ruins and all but not from Desire. The only time we have left is for the snorkeling cruise.

We like to stay at least eight nights, this allows us to take advantage of the "every fourth night free" specials.

We are staying 12 nights, same reason, 4th night free. Will it be too long, never been before so it's a first for us, so come May we will soon find out. I can't see us getting bored, we are quite happy to sit and read for a few days, and with the addition of the activities, the time will fly.

After the winter, really looking forward to some warmth, with from the weather and the couples at Pearl.

In our opinion, 12 nights would not be to long. Wish we were there that long this year. Being there for 12 days you will probably experience some very active days and nights, as well as some slow days and nights. If you can be content sunning and reading on the beach or by the pool, which we certainly are because it gives us time to rest and recharge for the next go around! Then you guys should be just fine and have the time of your lives!
