Seen both, but I prefer linen pants in the tropics.

Have seen very few in jeans in our trips. Light weight slacks are more comfortable and more the norm. Also think that it is nice to dress to compliment your wife or significant other.

I was there for a week at the beginning of August and wore jeans and either a button down shirt or nice V-neck t-shirt and fit right in with no issues.

This stirred a bit of a "dust up" a while ago but, at the risk of that again, I'll say I think you should not wear jeans. Yes, there are nice jeans and no, you will not be turned away for wearing them but, IMHO, dinner and the disco are for "dressing up" and, while that means different things in different contexts (electrical tape for ABC night is not classically "dressy" but it works), jeans don't count - FOR ME.

I know, I know, there are "dressy" jeans - in the last debate, the price of said jeans was used as an indicator that they were dressy. But, in my mind, they are still "jeans" and, nice or not, I don't think it matches the intent of those particular activities.

It may sound hypocritical but, while I think you should not wear jeans, I don't really care if you do. I'm all for doing what you are comfortable doing and I certainly wouldn't look askance at anyone for their clothing choices. I'm merely saying that if you are asking for advice on whether to wear jeans or not, I vote not and those are my reasons.

My husband has worn jeans, dress pants and linen pants. It depends on which restaurant we're going to.

I take my jeans off upon arrival and don't wear them again until departure. I did wear white jeans for glow night.
