ha, ha, ha - that's funny! We were there at the end of May and were told by the front desk staff they were opening one in Cabo again. We'll believe it when we see it and will wait til we hear an absolute confirmation from CokeMann.

miranda2 and all - just because they are wearing Original Resorts name badges/shirt and sort of look like Desire staff and are in the front lobby don't assume that they are actually regular Desire staff more likely membership sales people
- most of the false rumors ie: a new Desire resort, Desire become a membership only property, etc have been attributed to the membership sales people hoping you will buy in [-O< and they make their big commission.

So, if someone mentions any of the false rumors, just ask if they are a membership sales person - lol

A mentioned previously - All the real Desire staff know that they are not allowed to give out any official corporate info unless it has already been released by Original Resorts PR dept or they would lose their jobs for doing so.

Got tile on one side of wall and top said tomorrow they should finish and a day to haul sand bags away. So two more days we hope. This afternoon the fun end was so shallow you could sit in the bottom!

Just to follow up on something the other day, I talked to the construction guy (only one that could speak English) he said the reason they have to keep the pool so low is the dams can only take so much pressure. Also the sidewalks are all dug up (along the sides that X pavers with grass) because they are running the heater lines. Guess the heater is going to be up behind the fence on the north west part of property because of noise.

This is concerning for those of us who are coming for the first time. We arrive Saturday and we're booked for 2 weeks. I certainly hope they've at least figured out how to keep the pool filled during the day by the time we get there. This is a big deal for us....we are sun worshippers and take frequent dips in our pool to cool off...expect to be able to do the same somewhere where we're dropping a significant chunk of change. I'll gladly put on some work boots and gloves to help move things along if they need the help!! :-D

OK...this is great news for us January peeps. I've always said January is the best time to go the Pearl. The weather is great (80 by day, 70 by night), there is no seaweed, no hurricane risk, hardly any rain, it gets us out of the miserable Northeast during the worst time of the year. The only downside was maybe the pool water was a little cold. Now that appears to be a thing of the past.

We didn't care so much about the enclosing of the lobby, as the weather at night when we are there makes outdoors quite pleasant. But this is exciting. And we pay the highest rates to go in January, so it's great to see them doing something to take care of us.

Sorry you folks there now are being inconvenienced a bit. But like they say, a bad day at Desire is better than a good day pretty much anywhere else.

We are usually beach people, but with the seaweed we were going to be pool people for this trip. Now it sounds like we may not have a pool. We arrive on 9/18. Hope it is finished by then. Feel sorry for the people who are there now.

I exchanged a couple of emails with Antonio Salas (the Guest Services Manager) and he said the work is scheduled to be completed this coming Monday if not a couple of days sooner....so it should be good for most of our trip AND all of yours. :D We'll have been there for 2 weeks by the time you arrive and will have celebrated our honeymoon and both of our birthdays....just look for the most worn out couple and say "hi!"

I hope those who are there now are enjoying themselves. They deserve just as good an experience as everyone else does...these aren't cheap trips for anyone.

I have to admit this is a little disappointing.

We arrive tomorrow. I was hoping to get in some early morning lap swimmming every day. If the pool is split into 2 or has low water that will be a lot more difficult. I guess open water swimming may be the back-up plan.

Yeah, not sure why you would pick the hottest month of the year to do this fix either. If it is only for 1 week, do it closer to when it gets cold. We arrive tomorrow and leave Monday, so this would be very disappointing. I hope they're at least keeping the jacuzzi open earlier to give people access to it for drinks and (depending on the temp), cooling off.

No worries, as we speak they are removing the sand bags for the dams on each side. The wall is done and looks good, this week they have had a professional photographer and models here to do pics for web sites and advertising, they have one more day and Desire told them it better be done for the pictures. They have put in long day and still going, they are bringing the water level up so all is good.
Everyone that is coming tomorrow or later will have everything back to normal, they said the reason they did it now was occupancy is so down this week. I have to admit it's as slow as I have ever seen it, but is picking up slowly for the long weekend, which I here is sold out. Weather is hot and not a cloud in the sky today.
