music at the pool

Postby 22truckie » Wed Sep 30, 2015 11:34 pm

Ok, time for another post from the couple who hasn't even been there yet. We like music and were wondering how the music is around the pool, if there is any?? If there isn't any, and we would like to have some nice background music during relaxing slack time (really ??) is that ok (Pandora through our phone). Wouldn't be played loud unless we were asked to turn it up. Given the average age of the couples, think our type of music would be ok? (classic rock with some alternative) Thoughts please?? One month , 2 days, 2 hours, 30 minutes and 15, wait 14, no 13 seconds left before we arrive (damn it, 10). Not that we are keeping track LOL. Thanks and Cheers all!

The entertainment staff play music round the "fun" end of the pool from around 10am until around 4pm. There is usually a board where you can request specific artists and tracks. It isn't played especially loud, just background and isn't intrusive. The playlist is typically 80s/90s - never heard classic rock there, but that would be great!

They have piped music from speakers in the bushes around the jacuzzi at Pearl. But it's very quiet and only audible if you're lying on the beds. You can still easily hear the sounds of pleasure from adjacent beds..... :D

Personally don't go to Caribbean / Mexico to listen to classic / head banging rock & roll. Can get that in the states. Prefer the local sounds & vibe. I wouldn't assume everyone wants to listen to it even if a few do. Ear buds work well. Just sayin.

In 3 trips, I can't remember any genre that was "undesirable". The music starts at 10AM, very mellow and sensual. It gets hopping as the crowd does, but always in good taste, even the foam party.

Sounds good, I'm sure the local caribbean vib will be just fine. Just curious was all. Music, like all art forms is up to the individual, what one person calls crap, another will pay 1 mill for. Thank you for the responses, we always respect others around us.

In the morning between 9am-11am, they tend to play "tropical house" style music. Lot's of Kygo (like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8PPap4dJog).

Between 11-4pm they tend to play 80s, 90s, and current.

After 4pm, it switches to ultra lounge /downtempo style.

We have always enjoyed the music at Pearl.

For some gaudawful reason, loud music started playing through the ground speaker system at 6:30 a.m. (around Sept 19th). Since we don't drink and have never experienced a hangover, I don't know how the guests who had been partying the night before would have reacted to the loud noise. I know we didn't like it and talked to the front desk staff. It was a glitch and was not repeated for the rest of our stay.

On occasion, we have been at the quiet end of the pool and have had to put up with unwanted noise from a portable speaker system brought by a guest. I agree with Puffer: ear buds work well.

It starts a little too early for me. It would be nice if they held off til noon. Selection? sometimes I feel like its the same sound track that special opps used to drive Col. Noriaga from his place.

Just to ensure everyone is at ease on this. We have never been to DP and mearly wanted to know if people play their own music softly. We are totally down with the local music and look forward to its rhythm. We are very respectful to others around us and never intentionally upset someone. Just used the forum to find out before we got there. We are sooooo looking forward to our trip (2 weeks away!!), meeting great people, having fun and enjoying new adventures  Look for the two people enjoying the hell out of life and that will be us ( and probably everyone else :D ). Cheers all!
