Cigar Friendly???

We just returned last week. We enjoy a cigar from time to time also. We just went down to the beach, saw which way the wind was blowing and went down to the leeward side. Never a problem, Quite a few cigarette smokers throughout the resort and smoking is permitted in any of the open areas. They sell Cuban cigars (real, not imitations) in the gift shop along with butane lighters.

I usually score some good ones down there, and will have one or two throughout the week on the beach during our stay. Would never smoke near the pool or the rooms. Plus, wouldn't want to scare off any of the hot ladies! I have other priorities while I'm at Desire. I'm not there to smoke cigars!

But if you go down on the beach at the right times, you won't offend anyone.

Just a small update for those who are cigar lovers.

We've just came back from the trip, there were quite a few men (and women) who smoked cigarettes and cigars, pretty much did it anywhere we've liked (by the pool, on the beach, outside of restaurant, on the terrace, on balconies etc.). No one complained as we did not smoke anywhere it's not legal (e.g. in enclosed spaces).

Have to agree. Just because no one complained doesn't necessarily mean that they weren't bothered. Just being polite, probably.

Have to agree to disagree ) Lawful society means all must obey the Law and the Law is one for all. Obviously, I will not blow smoke into anyone's face in the middle of the pool just to prove the point, but if Law says I can smoke, for example, on my terrace, I will.

To avoid future confrontation it would help to assign "smoking" side of the pool/beach and "non-smoking" - I've seen stuff like that in Spain and Portugal, just a suggestion.

But the point is, you did blow smoke in people's faces. So, you say no one complained, but you just said you would have disregarded their complaint anyway because the resort allows your behavior. Many things are allowed, but they are still unfriendly. Many people do not want to join in your habit of fouling the air.

IMHO, unless this resort becomes smoke-free zone, I presume they will have not to lie down next to the people who smokes, thanks God there are good choice of beds around ))

I don't think this 'argument' is pointless but it is very telling of those who are inconsiderate of others.

Whether it be smoking whatever, whenever or other inconsiderate, 'all about me' behaviour is just rude and very unsexy.

Your "equal rights" to smoke are trumped by my more-than-equal rights to breathe. For me its a health issue, as an asthmatic I CAN'T just sit there and breathe your smoke. Maybe I'd just go get some tunes, while you're trying to quietly "enjoy" your lawful paid for smoke, and proceed to share my love of, say, Dropkick Murphys loud enough to drown out the pool music. After all I paid the same money as you to enjoy however I want.

Honestly, I don't have any more "desire" to continue this discussion. I've made my views clear and I stand by it. To be fair, I've always chosen sunbeds without immediate neighbors, smoking or not. Since this resort is not the cheap one, I'm sure that people who have enough brain to make money to go there, also will have enough brain to avoid confrontations. During our trip there were absolutely no issues, I'm sure there will be no issues during yours. For the argument's sake, yes, you are free to do whatever tickles your fancy, as long as it's legal; if I can bear it, I'll stay, if it disturbs me, I'll move, it's simple as that. Sorry, but I won't answer to any more comments in this topic, as I don't have anything else to say on the subject.
