We arrive in Cancun day-after-tomorrow. I've seen some comments that suggest using a regular taxi cab for transportation vs. transportation provided by Desire. There will only be the two of us... what's the best plan for transportation to the hotel?

A cab is the quickest way. There are always plenty at the airport and waiting (almost always) at Desire to take you back to the airport. No waiting. But it will cost you $65 going to Desire and $30 on the way back. For $80 you can get a private shuttle- and they are usually very good about being there at the airport waiting for you with a sign with your name on it at the airport. You do of course have to schedule a pickup time from Desire back to the airport, and count on them to be there. Most are.
Stay away from any "shared" shuttle services- you may have to wait for others to arrive, to be dropped off, etc, and for a few bucks it isn't worth it !

For just two people, we still think that a taxi is the best because then you can get there fast without screwing around, but the best reason for using taxis are for the trip back to the airport you can leave the resort when you are ready NOT when the private company thinks you need to leave for the airport!!!!! (sometimes 3 hours before departure and that is so not needed) We are going down next week, and there is going to be 4 of us so we are going to rent a car.. for still cheaper than 2 couples with suit cases using 2 taxis .......
We sure cant wait to get there....8 more days..

Anyone ever use the bus from the airport I remeber from previous trips to Tempation it was a litlle issue getting out of the airport and finding the correct bus?

USA Transfers - for Private transfers(direct, no other stops, airport to resort) - very reliable !!!
- $35 one way or $ 60 USD round trip - for up to 3 people
- $45 one way or $ 65 USD round trip - for up to 7 people

btw - taking a bus to Desire is not a great option - the only buses that travel outside of Cancun are the large state run ADO buses - the only stop they make on the way south to Playa del Carmen is at the side of the highway at the turn off to Puerto Morelos and then you would have to get a taxi there to take you the rest of the way to the resort(about a $25 ride).
