The "destruction" of the beach and the building of the berm to the south of Desire is sad. We used that stretch of beach for our photo session two years ago. However, it appears that it will stop the lookiloos not only from Breathless but from the large family resort further down the beach. In the Summer of 2014, we noticed many many many families and couples wandering north from that resort to wind up embarrassed on the beach in front of Desire.

We were at Desire RM last week with the YNots (BTW - great group of people, fun, welcoming, good time had by all!) and I would concur with CokeMann's comments. Obviously the pics tell the story. As one who scaled up and down the berm several times to take walks past Breathless, I can report that it isn't that easy, particularly climbing up. When we were there last October there was already a significant change in the respective beach levels between the two properties but it certainly has increased. Desire had constructed this berm several years ago and it has accomplished the intended purpose - it has preserved and even increased the width of the Desire's beach. At this point one has to be really motivated to scale the berm. Most people who were walking towards Desire from the south are just doing a U-turn before the berm. This was our 10th visit to RM dating back to April 2007, and I can definitely say this is the least amount of foot traffic I have ever seen along Desire's beach. The foot traffic had increased over the years with the construction of Azul Sensatori and Secrets Silversands to the south, both of which have over 400 rooms. So this is a positive in that regard.

While obviously it would be preferable that none of the rooms at Breathless have any view of Desire's pool, even the 4 rooms shown on the photo have a very limited view of the back end of the pool and a small portion of the adjacent pool deck. Really don't think its much of an issue and certainly nothing that should discourage people from booking.

Pleased to report that during most of our week the water was clear and blue, almost no seagrass, and really warm - probably mid-80's. As nice as its been on any of our 10 trips. Never enjoyed spending time in the ocean more than during this past visit! We had a fantastic time and can't wait to come back.

We too just got back from DRM and generally agree with Coke and the others who have opined that the concerns are overblown. There really are just a couple rooms at Breathless that could see parts of the Desire pool. And if Breathless is adults only, then it's probably easier for a perv to perv what's going on at Breathless than it would be for somebody in those couple rooms to maybe, just maybe, catch a distant glimpse of somebody fully nude at DRM. Plus if Desire management is committed to screening those views as Coke reported, then case closed -- it's a non issue.

I don't completely agree with the idea of it being super difficult to access DRM along the waterline due to the different beach contours though. We easily navigated back and forth several times from Desire's beach to Breathless' beach while we were there. We never had to wade into water more than ankle deep and we never had to step up over berm (sandbag) steps of greater than 2ft at a time. That being said, if you're nude on DRM's beach and don't want any passers-by to see you nude, then don't be nude on DRM's beach. That's always been the case. So nothing has changed.

All good, IMHO.

Sometimes that is the fun part LOL....letting some vanilla adult passers on the beach get a good look of you with your legs somehow spread.

Breathless has been open for three weeks now, has anyone noticed anything different since pre-opening?

We just returned from a 5 day stay (Jun 9-15). The impact of Breathless was very minimal, as our resort has done a great job of blocking most of the view into the hot tub area. As previously mentioned, there are 3-4 rooms that could maybe see onto the DRM pool but no one seemed bothered by that and in fact, we never saw anyone on those balconies. We did however notice a HUGE increase of beach traffic. Many people checking out the fine views on our beach. Some joined in by enjoing their freedom and dropping their clothes, but most just casually walked by. The few that were obviously leering were usually greeted by bouncing titties or mooning backsides.

First time at DRM.
We are new to nude beach but are not bothered by the foot traffic. There are a big no camera sign at the beach before the resort. As mentioned the previous post, some people joined in, but mostly walked by. Those leering stand out like a sore thumb. They are more embarrassed than we are.
Yet to see kids walk by.
Not a big issue in my mind.

Just returned & DRM is taking Breathless problems very seriously. Breathless guests have tried sneaking in DRM, using beach chairs, etc... A worker told us one guest even managed to make it to the jacuzzi.
This past week, additional signage "private resort, no cameras" at both ends of the beach & several other spots. Security cameras were being installed around the grounds.

Neon pink peel & stick stickers are placed over every guests phone camera. Easy to take off & put back on if you need to take a picture but easy to spot an imposter trying to snap a pic.
New bracelets which are very different than what Breathless has.
Bracelets can no longer be worn on the ankle because security can see the bracelets easier on your wrist.
All these measures make securities job easier to spot other resort guests.

We were on our beach bed one day when a Breathless couple tried being on the DRM beach on the beach chairs. Security was there confronting them within 30 seconds.

I don't know if this is old info but thought I'd post just in case.

We are a little more than 30 days out from our next trip. Can't wait to see the effect for ourselves. I can't help but wonder how many people that stay at Breathless and walk on the beach or try to sneak in will eventually decide to give Desire a try.

My guess is, after many of these couples visit the new resort they will inevitably talk about the idea of going to a CO resort with Desire being right next door (a topic that might not ever come up back home). I wouldn't be surprised if we don't start seeing some of these guests converting over and trying Desire on their next adults only vacation. My wife and I found Desire Resorts through a similar path, we visited Excellence La Playa Mujeres for our 10th anniversary some years back and we were a bit surprised by the fact that a number of women were sunbathing topless at the beach (and one well-endowed lady even playing topless frisbee in the surf everyday at 1:00 for everyone's enjoyment). Anyhow, at first, my wife was bothered by attractive women being topless around me, but by the end of the week she was saying that she'd like to have the freedom to do that as well without having to worry about what other people thought. So, being the loving husband that I am  , I made sure to take note of such a comment and when it came time to plan our next vacation to Cancun, I started searching to see if such a place existed! We first found Temptations as it was topless only, but it just seemed too cliche and...I guess the word would be immature for what we'd be comfortable with (I could be totally wrong as we've never actually been there). Then I found Desire Resorts and, even though it being CO was a big jump from having been purely vanilla up until that point, we felt more comfortable with it because its not just adults only, its couples only. Also, the price point seemed like it would weed out a lot of the immaturity you might find elsewhere. We took the plunge and haven't looked back! Now, my wife can't wait to get back in September and has many times questioned my decision last year for not buying a membership the first time we visited! We've only been to Pearl so far, but looking forward to experiencing RM this year!

Construction Next Door

Postby Stltravelers » Wed Jul 27, 2016 10:14 pm

We are planning a trip in October, and are curious what the status is with the Hotel Construction next to Desire RM? If anyone has information, we would appreciate it.

Thanks,
