We are making our first trip to Pearl, been to RM already. We took a taxi to RM but we were thinking about renting a car to take some day excursions. Any idea on what parking is like there? Or if it's even allowed?

We've made at least 15 trips to DRM, and I still cannot imagine paying $500-$1000/night and then leaving the resort for a couple of day trips. Of course, cost is relative, but in fact, if I were staying at DRM for FREE, I still cannot imagine leaving the resort for a couple of day trips. After doing so, without a doubt when we returned our friends would run up saying: "OMG! You won't believe what you missed out on at the {jacuzzi or pool or beach beds or whatever]!!!"
Book some vanilla resort in the Hotel Zone and make your day trips from there. Most likely, you won't miss out on anything at the resort (except free booze).

Really agree. We usually plan 3 desire days and the balance at Cancun zone. Always need a few days to relax after Desire!!! We have used Hertz Renatl car at airport n costs are like $40-50 a day includes all.

That's what we are doing. 4 nights at desire, a few nights at a vanilla place as a buffer back to reality.

The answer was there is no cost to use the parking lot. Which is pretty good!
