Technically they would count as long pants - but I think you would be letting your SO down badly since she will dressed for a fine dining establishment....

we wore shorts last year at all restaurants and there was no problem at all. what happened since? i thought the rule was now relaxed.

ladies... for your information, what is also "out of style"

... heavy blue mascara
--- heavy mascara of any color
--- spandex thongs when you are in the gym
-- ankle height leather boots, also the crumply type foot loose boots
--- feathered hair
-- excessive gold jewelery
--- neon, although i have seen it coming back with the teens... your not a teen
--- full bush

Thank goodness you did not list Body Glitter... I would really be upset!

Dudes, come on! Freaking try at the least to look somewhat presentable with your hottie wife. If the guy looks like a bum, we will pass you by no matter how funny and charming you are. Women go out of their way to look sharp and sexy, and you guys are still wearing pleated shorts.....get a clue and dress to impress
