Seaweed?

Postby chieffan50 » Wed Oct 19, 2016 11:07 pm

Hey folks I know this has been beat to death, but we are headed back in a couple of weeks and wondering about the Seaweed situation. The last time we were there in November it was so bad that you could hardly get in the water..........spent most all of our time at the pool but we're beach lovers. Any updates?

We did a split trip at the first of the month. Seaweed was much worse at Pearl than at RM. But not so bad that it kept us out of the water.

Pretty much what I figured........that's the only drawback to Pearl and RM.........Jamaica has much nicer beaches.

We have visited Pearl six times and have had varied experiences with seaweed. From basically none to being unable to walk the beach because of the large piles of seaweed. For our visit a couple of weeks ago, the water was pretty clear and there was very little seaweed.

Just got back from Pearl on 10/19. There was a little seaweed earlier in our trip. There were some storms and wind the last 2 days and it really kicked up the seaweed. The beach isn't bad (they rake it every day). The seaweed is right as you get in the water, once you get out to waist deep or so it gets better. The choppy water and wind kept us out more than the seaweed did.
