New Couple Planning Trip

Hey All,

we are a couple in our early 20's attempting to plan a trip together. We are strongly considering Desire, but also looked at the Hedo resorts. We are looking at going some time in December..probably during Christmas.

We are not swingers, or nudists. We just want to be able to sit on a beach together either naked or very close to naked without being looked at in a strange way. We have never actually done anything like this before so we would also like the option to go clothed if possible if we feel so inclined. That is why we are leaning towards Desire. From what we have read, the Hedo resorts are little "crazier"

We are wondering if we can get some thoughts from people that have been there during this time.

How is the weather around this that time of year (Dec 25ish)?

For a couple our age, do you think this resort is appropriate?

I know this is a Desire forum so there might be some bias, but which resort would be better for us? Desire or Hedo?

We are from Nova Scotia, Canada...does anyone from NS have any suggestions on Travel agents that they have used in the past? Or any Canadian travel agents? We are open to any and all suggestions.

We are a couple from ontario at your age with the same attitude as yours (not swinger, not nudist). By reading some of the useful posts on this forum, We found out that the best time for young couples is in summer not winter. Thus we are planning for the next summer.

what were the reasons for not going in the winter? Is it the age of the people that go in summer vs winter? weather? different room rates or flight cost?

The first thing you might want to reconsider it the timing of your vacation. The Xmas/NewYears week Dec 25 to Jan 2 is the most expensive week of the year at almost all resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.

In general most places that have nude or c/o beaches, the majority of that go will be significantly older than yourselves - that fact in itself should not deter you but it is a reality.

Desire of course can provide the type of vacation you are looking for and in general age is not a factor at Desire in mixing and having a great time,

Although very expensive you can book a complete Desire air/hotel package through Air Canada Vacations http://www.aircanadavacations.com/

A more cost effective way would be to book air and hotel separately - try WestJet for lower air cost and for the resort I can send you a list of TAs that specialize in Desire if you PM me.

If you are just looking for a quiet intimate week for the two of you and the option for nudity without a lot of social interaction with others at the resort here are is a list some other places to consider.

We're from the Wet (West) Coast of Canada and have found it much more cost effective to book the resort through the resort and book the flight separately.

We have used online travel agencies such as Expedia and iTravel2000 to book the flights.

If you book a package deal through Sunwing, aircanadavacations, etc., your dates aren't as flexible as booking the way we do.

We can book any day of the week for our trips the way we do it and this works for us because we work weekends and weekend departures mean we have to use up more vacation time than necessary and departing on a Monday or Tuesday is better for us.

We are going back dec 13 before rate hike. We are not swingers and my wife never went topless last dec. Weather was great. We are a little older but witness big variety in age on first trip. Have fun!!

Not meaning to persuade you against Desire, but most of what you mention in describing yourselves are things that might make a person exclude Desire from their selection. We are not lifestyle, and my wife usually only goes topless, but we always travel with friends we have met at Hedo or Desire and we enjoy the sensual tension -- electricity -- that the place has. We've also been to Hedos and Lidos. We loved Hedo 3, but alas, it is no more (soon). We prefer the couples only atmosphere.

We also have been to Couples Tower Isle 3 times. I would recommend that you add it to the mix. Frankly, we prefer Jamaica to Mexico, but flight availability is much better to Cancun and travel time from airport to Desire cannot be beat. Travel time from MoBay to CTI is at least 1.5 hours. But it's cultural the first couple of times. We have also visited (day pass) Couples Sans Soucie. Lots of steps, but very nice nude beach. CTI was recently extensively remodeled. We have not been to the other Couples resorts, but perhaps others here have and would give their opinions.

To me, it seems you're going to Desire for all the wrong reasons. Or at least, not enough of the right ones.

I also would never talk anybody out of going to Desire but another place to consider if you just want a nude beach experience and aren't swingers would be the island of Cayo Largo in Cuba. As a fellow Canadian you are free to travel there. Each resort on the island has both nude and clothed beaches and there are miles and miles of virgin beach you can explore and be on your own. A good choice for resorts would be either the Sol or the Sol Pelicano.

Hey guys, we're a couple in our mid-20's, and we just came back from our second trip in July. We went for some of the same reasons you mention, and we're not swingers or nudists, but we love the atmosphere and freedom that the resort offers.

A Desire vacation is whatever you make of it. You can socialize as much as you want or keep to yourselves for a more intimate vacation. However, the people you meet at Desire are one of a kind, and everyone is friendly and approachable, so don't be shy. We made some great friends on our first trip, and ended up traveling together this July.

And we think the Resort is appropriate for couples our age. In fact, most of the people we met there said they wished they started coming to Desire at our age! we'll continue going to Desire instead of Hedo because we like that it is a couples only place....and we love the staff.
