What's your favorite Ocean View room?

Postby nascentfun » Sat Aug 14, 2010 1:56 pm

We're headed to Desire in a month for our first trip - can hardly wait!
We booked a King Ocean View room and want to use the express check-in in advance. I assume Desire veterans like some rooms better than others. It looks like there are 18 King OV rooms with some at the NE side of the resort, some in the middle near the beach, and 8 in the building under the jacuzzi. What are the pros and cons for these three general locations? Are some rooms bigger/nicer/newer than others? I realize it probably doesn't make a lot of difference, but if I can put in a request for a particular room, I'd like to do it with an informed opinion.
Thanks!

a few things to consider.........

are you beach bed or pool people?
early risers or like to sleep in?

2200 & 2500 would be a bit quieter in the morning and offer easy access to the beach beds. Lower floors are blocked by two sets of beds though
1000& possibly 1500 buildings might be prone to a bit more noise n the morning due to the proximity of the pool
1600 & 2000 are centrally located, but its not a long walk to anywhere at Desire. I believe the beach bar is located right in between the two, so the noise level might pick up around 9:30 (prep time) and 10 (CC is open for business)

Thanks folks, this is the feedback I was hoping to get. I'm an early-riser (normally), while my wife likes to sleep in whenever she can. We probably would do better away from the pool and bar. Would 2213 and 2513 offer a relatively clear ocean view (above the beach beds)?

2200 is just to the side of the payapa (sp?), but both might work second floor. We stayed in 2201, our only true OV stay (all our other stays were in garden view rooms, but each had somewhat of an OV) and I recall thinking the second floor of the 2000 & 1600 blocks probably offer the best OV.

best OV

We usually stay GV as I'd rather spend the $$ on an extra day than on the "view". Upgraded one to Building 2200 -- is convenient to everything (especially your own bathroom), yet away from the hustle-bustle. 2nd floor offers better view, plus coffee out on the balcony is great early morning.

Nascent - we've stayed in 2513 (2 years ago) and loved it. Quiet with a great ocean view and perfect access to porch table for breakfast :D
