Breathless Issues?

So, we are planning yet another trip to Desire and it has been a little while. Friends have told us that there have been some problems because of the new high rise resort, Breathless. Has anyone experienced any problems?

We've stayed at RM three times since Breathless opened and have noticed almost no difference. Beach traffic does not seem much different and the lunchtime peeping toms from the top corner of the nearest building are gone now that construction is over and the construction workers are gone. The only variable might be that when the beach repairs itself on the Breathless side someday, then more people may come walk the beach in front of RM.

We have been to DRM at least 2 times since Breathless opened and we did not see any real change..... we noticed a few curious people walking the beach from time to time but no real difference before Breathless opened. One day a group of ladies from Breathless ended up stopping and going topless on the beach .... all in good fun! If you are a little shy about non-Desire guests seeing you... then avoid the beach area.... The rest of the resort continues to be very private and discrete!

The only thing we noticed last year was when a tipsy group of girls from a bachelorette party starting frolicking in the water in front of Desire and yanking each other's tops off. I told my wife we should go join them, and they were pretty funny. They really wanted to come into Desire (they said nightlife at their resort was terrible), and I had the dubious honor of telling all these hot unicorns that they're not allowed to come into Desire with us.

Well, now that sounds fun, albeit frustrating.

More bothersome than Breathless, which is adult only, is when the wind is from the north and Azul rents stand up paddleboards to families resulting in Mom, Dad and Kids being helplessly blown past Desire.

We did see one issue when we were there in March. During the pool foam party in the afternoon on Friday a guest at Breathless was out on his balcony and brought out his camera and was either zooming in or taking pictures. Security was notified at Desire and in a minute he was gone from the balcony. It didn't bother us too much but was a little creepy. Just be aware there are a few rooms where they can see into the pool from their balconies.

Yeah, we actually like most of the looky loos. However, kids drifting close by sounds a little unnerving.

Is Breathless, the "adult" resort, cool with Mrs. Sunscreen walking topless on their beach? Used to before Breathless was built....

Anyone use or plan to use 'Breathless" as their "cover story" hotel to friends back home? It seems you mention to neighbors/friends over a cold drink or glass of wine that you are going to Mexico this summer and 90% of them ask "where are you staying?" and almost same amount of people have been to Cancun or RM in general. We found that out last year real quick. We had to have our stories straight a few times. We thought about saying Breathless because of its close proximity and adults only. Isn't it topless as well?

We just returned from RM yesterday. We noticed a few beach walkers going past RM but all were clearly adults. We did see one man with a small boy walking past and we heard the man say, "Come on lets jog real fast".
We did see three older ladies sneak past security and made it to the lobby bar before they were stopped. They said they were checking out the place to maybe stay there. Security walked them back to the beach.
We saw at least 2 security guards on the beach at all times, one at each end. Only late at night and early in the morning was one.
And the rule about sex on the beach is greatly relaxed. We saw several occasions of it and the security guys said nothing.
