Now that I have a little more time, here is more details from our trip. We stayed for a week, July 22-29th.
This was our first trip to any kind of nude resort and we are not in the lifestyle.
The Good:
The grounds are beautiful. Everything is well kept and clean. The rooms are large and clean and they do a great job keeping them clean while you are here.
The beach and water were amazing (despite seaweed, see below). Walking around naked was great. I was worried I would feel uncomfortable, but I never did. We were both naked within hours of arriving.
The beach/bar staff were great. Always good about bringing us drinks and suggesting drinks for us to try.
The catamaran was also great. I have never been snorkeling before. Seeing the fish and the beautiful shorelines and ocean was certainly a highlight of the trip. There was not much of a party on our boat, which was fine by us. Highly recommend the catamaran
The foam party. We are not much for party people, but the foam party was so much fun!
The Bad:
The food. Mediocre at the very best. I was shocked how poor the food quality was. I was even more surprised that our worst means were at Pearl and Unik. One night I received a steak that was completely rare on one side and well done on the other. How did they manage that? Did they just put the right side of the steak on the grill and leave the left side hanging off?
It was such a let down after each day to go to dinner and have disappointing food. It really spoils a great day.
We talked to a few other couples who have been here before and said the food is not good now. I don't know what happened - but the food alone would be a reason for us to not come back. First time I've ever lost weight on a vacation.
The servers. Servers at the restaurant were really hit or miss. I don't blame them. I blame management. They servers were trying, but they clearly were not well trained. They missed simple things like if you bring someone milk and sugar for their coffee, they will need a spoon to stir it.
If you come expecting a more fine dining experience, you wont get it. If you come expecting service similar to your local diner or Applebee's, you will not be disappointed.
Hiring a top hotel food/beverage manager would go along way. They need someone skilled in serving large groups that can set the menu, train the chefs, and train the servers. That would make all the difference.
The beach/seaweed. It was not until our second to last day here that they made any effort to remove the seaweed. I know it is a problem everywhere, but being on the catamaran showed us how many resorts had beautiful beaches and were actively cleaning up the shore. When people finally started cleaning up the seaweed after nearly a week of nothing, it made a huge difference. The beach looked so much better! Why were they not doing this all along?
Finally - my post above shows my sour feelings about this whole trip. The trip ended watching the resort do virtually nothing about a man in serious distress. Then their audacity to argue with me and lie to my face about a doctor coming was beyond believe. We sat outside that room for 20 minutes. They said a doctor was going to be there in 15 minutes. No doctor ever showed. They told us they kept checking on the man. They were not - we were there for 20 minutes with no one else around. How could anyone be so heartless as to leave a man in serious distress alone in his room with his intoxicated wife?
What if that was a stroke and not alcohol poisoning? His left side of his face was drooped down. They are not medical professionals. Call a doctor and at least have him evaluated.
